Meet the Owner
Samera Arkel is the owner and founder of 409 Woodbury, a community-centered event venue rooted in resilience, generosity, and hope. Following the devastating Eaton Fire, Samera lost her home and all of her personal belongings. In the midst of that loss, she chose to lead with service.

From the earliest days after the fire, Samera has been boots on the ground—opening the doors of 409 Woodbury and offering the space and its resources freely to the Altadena and Pasadena communities. The venue became a place for SBA gatherings, trauma-informed workshops, and connection points where neighbors could access resources, support, and guidance as they worked to rebuild their lives.

Through this period, Samera emerged as a true pillar of the community, holding space for others even while navigating her own recovery. Her vision for 409 Woodbury has always extended beyond events—it is about creating a place where people feel supported, seen, and celebrated.

Now entering a new chapter, Samera is proud to reintroduce 409 Woodbury as a beautifully remodeled venue designed for joy, connection, and meaningful gatherings. With renewed intention, the space stands as a testament to what is possible when community comes together.

“This community has shown me what resilience truly looks like. We’ve held each other through loss, and now we deserve moments of beauty, celebration, and joy. 409 Woodbury exists so we can gather again—not just to rebuild, but to truly live.”
